We are now in the second round of the NBA playoffs and let’s be honest, this is where the real competition begins. In the first round, there were a few good games but the teams that were legit proved themselves. I am going to miss seeing Russell Westbrook play along with the Greek Freak but other then that I am happy to see the others go. Now to the matchups.
Celtics vs Wizards
I am writing this after game one has taken place and based on that game, it is clear that this series is going to be ELECTRIC! John Wall is easily a top 5 point guard in this league and Isiah Thomas is not far behind. Seeing the two superstars go at it in this series is going to be exhilarating to watch. I give a slight advantage to the Celtics based on one thing, defense. Marcus Smart, who is one of the best defending guards in the league, will match up well with Bradley Beal and Al Horford is a force in the paint. I think the series will go back and forth but I have the Celtics winning in 6 and advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Players To Watch
Celtics: Isiah Thomas, Marcus Smart
Wizards: John Wall, Marcin Gortat
Cavs vs Raptors
The good old matchup between the 6 and “The Land” is definitely an intriguing one. The Raptors, led by superstar Demar Derozan and the point guard from Philly, Kyle Lowry, are coming off a series win vs the Milwaukee Bucks. The gritty Raptors think they are ready to shock the world. Lebron James, who has made six straight NBA Finals appearances, has other ideas. Even though the Celtics have the one seed, I think it’s clear the Cavs are the best team in the East and should not be truly tested until the Finals. The big 3 of Lebron, Kyrie and K-Love will be too much for the Raptors to handle. Also, any offense in the paint that the Raptors will try to circulate will be shut down by Tristan Thompson. I don’t think it’s a series at all, Cavs in 5.
