If you have not yet watched the Astros play you are either A: living under a rock or B: do not appreciate good baseball. The Houston Astros are the best team in baseball and in my opinion, are the best team since the 2011 Phillies. They come in today with a record of 42-18, which is the best in the majors. They have arguably the best pitcher in baseball in Dallas Keuchel who is 9-0 with a league leading 1.67 ERA, the best middle infield in baseball composed of Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa and the best lead off man in the bigs in George Springer who has 16 lead off home runs. The most impressive thing about this team is on paper they have some superstars but, they are in no ways stacked or a “super team.” They just go in night in and night out and play good, fundamental baseball, the way it’s supposed to be played. They also hit the complete shit out of the ball. I watched them play the Twins on Memorial Day and they exploded for 11 runs in the 8th like it was nothing and then 2 nights later put up a 17 spot. It would take my team a month to put those type of numbers up. If there is one weak spot about this team it is their bullpen. They are shaky and their closer, Ken Giles throws ched but is unreliable. I think they will need to trade some prospects to get a reliable bullpen pitcher in order to take it to the next level. I also really like the young third basemen Alex Bregman. He has a lot of pop and a really good glove. He is also coming off of a WBC title so his confidence is through the roof. This team is young, really good and soon to be World Series bound if they stay healthy. They are so good I think it’s possible that they go on to win 110 games this season; something that hasn’t been done since the 2001 Mariners and has only been done 6 times in Major League History.
