Before you do anything, watch the video. This might be the coolest thing I have ever witnessed in my life. If you thought Mariano Rivera’s Enter Sandman was cool, you will be blown away by the entrance of Japanese closer Yasuaki Yamazaki. After that bottom of the eighth inning when the DeNa Baystars are winning, the fans know what is about to go down. The tune of Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation starts to echo throughout the stadium and that’s when the passionate Japanese fans know it’s go time. They start to clap, sing, and jump around, and before you know it, the whole place is rocking. Out of the bullpen comes Yamazaki in the back of a car, much like a royal gladiator would be welcomed in the Coliseum. As the car approaches the mound, I can only imagine what the batter and the rest of the opposing team is thinking. Seeing by the video, the atmosphere is absolute electric city. This dude must be a god in Japan or some baseball hero. The 24 year old has a 1.74 ERA in 150 games played. With that ovation and treatment though I thought he never allowed a run in his life, I’m jealous of this guy and wish I got treated like royalty in my town. All I know is Japan loves Yasuaski Yamazaki and the world is about to as well.
I like the gladiator reference. Video was pretty cool.
