Which One of Your Teams Are You Most Passionate About? By: Peter Snyder

I had an interesting conversation with my dad today about what team we are most passionate about. Baseball, overall is my favorite sport, but is that to say I am most passionate about the Phillies? There are 162 games in a baseball season and only 16 in football. I can give my undivided attention to the Birds every Sunday but I can not set aside 162 days to watch the Phillies. I really thought about it and I had to say I feel that I am most passionate about the Eagles. Whether they are 16-0 or 0-16 the same amount of excitement will be felt before the season gets underway. This city is a football town. We need our Eagles football every fall and it is an obsession that does not come with our other three teams. An obsession that cannot be explained. We have football fever 24/7 and this team can do no wrong. Now my question to you is which one of your teams are you most passionate about? Do New Yorkers care more about their Yankees than they do the G-men? Does L.A. like the Kings more than the Dodgers? It is a question that I am fascinated by and am wondering if it is just us, the city of Philadelphia, that cares about football more than the other 3 sports, or if football is a sport driven by fandom and obsession. Please leave a comment and let me know!

  1. Peter. Well said. I too am passionate about all sports in Philadelphia. As an Eagles season ticket holder and a former wings season ticket holder I have to say it is a tough choice. You are dead on about the Eagles though. All of the other seasons are dozens if not more games long but we only have to endure 16 long weeks of the emotional roller-coaster that is Eagles football! Keep up the good work.
