The Indians are coming into the postseason as the hottest team in baseball and there is not even a close second. They are freshly off their 22 game win streak and even since the streak snapped, they have remained hot, playing well over .500. They have over a 200 run differential vs other team and are just flat-out dominant over any team they play night in and night out. If the pitching stays healthy and poised like it has done all year and the offense continues to produce, the Indians will be World Series Champions.
The Cleveland Indians have been the perfect example of the “next man up” approach. Throughout the year various injuries such as Jason Kipnis or Andrew Miller crippled the Indians but someone would stand up and the Indians just became better. It was incredible. Much of this seasons success can be attributed to the Indians stellar pitching staff. Leading the staff has been Indian ace, Corey Kluber. He has had a sensational year with over 200 strikeouts, 18 wins (which is tied for the major league lead) and a remarkable sub .250 ERA. To support that dominance, Carlos Carrasco has been not top shabby with 17 wins himself and Trevor Bauer, who has also picked up over 15 wins. They are a 3 headed beast and when they are clicking on all cylinders it is almost an unstoppable force. They also have a 3 headed beast that likes to swing the lure. Fransisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez and Edwin Encarnancion are 3 of the most dangerous, most effective hitters in all of baseball and the fact that they are on the same team, is just unfair. They also have other weapons in Jay Bruce and Carlos Santana and some would say this is the best offense in the game. If they are going to win the World Series they are going to have to produce runs, something they have consistently done all year. The Indians also have an above average bullpen with Cody Allen and Andrew Miller and they should help them shut down close games in the postseason which is crucial if you want to make an October run.
My prediction for how the Indians will do in the playoffs this year is simple, World Series Champions. I think they are far and beyond better and more talented than any other team in this years postseason field and that is saying something because there is a boat load of talent this year. To be truthful, I don’t even think they will be tested in most of this postseason. I think MAYBE they will drop 2 games in a series but will not face elimination once and when all is said and done, the Cleveland Indians will be your 2017 World Series Champions.
