The day has finally come! After a long regular season and hundreds of teams competing for the same goal, we are down to our final four, and only one can take the coveted national championship title. Today, four will be cut down to two and by nights end we will be one step closer to crowning the ultimate champion. Today’s matchups feature 4 historic programs facing off in two historic venues and it is sure to be an unforgettable day. We will start in Pasadena at the Historic Rose Bowl where we will see a matchup of one of the best defenses in the country trying to stop this year’s Heisman winner.

Oklahoma Vs Georgia

College football fans are getting spoiled with this New Year’s national semi-final matchup. This matchup is going to be a classic case of two freight trains coming at each other at full force and seeing which one will fall off the tracks. For Oklahoma, they have one of the best offenses in the country, averaging 44.9 points a game to go along with 583 yards per contest. This high-powered offense is led by this year’s Heisman winner, Baker Mayfield. Mayfield had one of the best seasons at the QB position in college football history, accumulating for 4340 passing yards for the season as well as throwing for 41 TD passes. Those numbers are almost hard to believe and the Sooners are lucky to have this guy lead their team. Mayfield is also extremely versatile on his feet, rushing for 5 TDs this season to go along with 300 rushing yards. The Georgia defense is going to have to come up with a plan to stop this Sooner offense who has practically been unstoppable the entire year. That being said, the Bulldogs will be up to the test as they have one of if not the best defense in the country. Led by defensive coordinator Mel Tucker, the Bulldog defense has been nothing short of sensational this season. They allow only 13.2 points per game as well as allowing opponents to only 158 passing yards per contest. If you had to pick out a weak point in this defense, you could say that their rush defense is sub par at best, allowing over 100 rushing yards a contest but it won’t be too much of a problem due to the fact that Oklahoma is a very pass driven offense. As for the coaches of these ball clubs, Oklahoma is coached by Lincoln Riley who is the youngest coach in America at the young age of 34. This is Riley’s first year as Oklahoma’s head coach and he has done something to this program that nobody thought could be possible in just one year. If Oklahoma can win just two more games, Riley will be the second youngest head coach in the history of college football to win a national championship. As for Georgia, they are coached by a fiery, passionate ball of energy in Kirby Smart who is sure to have his guys fired up come game time. Smart’s defensive savy style has led to a boat load of success this season and he is looking to lead his Bulldog team to their first National Championship since 1980.

As for the game goes I think that this will be a low scoring contest early. I feel that the Bulldog defense will do a good job of containing Mayfield and we could be looking at a 14-14 score at the break. That being said, there is only so much containing Mayfield, as he is the best player in America. I think Mayfield will explode for a huge second half and I have the Sooners taking this one by the score of 38-21.

Oklahoma – 38   Georgia – 21

Clemson Vs Alabama

It is clear that Clemson has the most complete team in college football. They are balanced on both sides of the ball and there is no surprise that they come into the CFP as the favorite. Dabo Sweeney is looking to lead his Tiger team to there third straight national championship game along with their second straight national championship title. Like them or not, Clemson is starting to become the new Bama. This new dynasty that you expect to be in the final four year in and year out. This year’s Clemson team is perhaps the most talented they have ever had. They are led by their star QB Kelly Bryant, who when healthy, is one of the best QBs in the country. They also have a dominant defense with a dominate pass rush and Alabama’s offensive line is going to have their hands full when trying to contain these Tiger pass rushers. As for Alabama, some might say they are lucky to even be playing tonight. Alabama lost their last game of the season to their rival Auburn by the score of 26-14. Although this was Bama’s first loss, it kept them out of the SEC championship and they could not pick up one more win to pat their CFP resumé. The absence of a conference championship did not matter to the committee, as the Tide once again have found themselves in the playoff. Although this may have been somewhat of a controversial pick to some, that does not mean that Alabama can not go on and win this whole thing because they absolutely can. They have one of the best defenses in the country with a defensive line that looks like they could play on Sunday’s. They have an above average QB in Jalen Hurts who has thrown for nearly 2000 yards on the year and to top it off, have one of the best college football coaches of all time in Nick Saban. These two teams have played in the last two national championship games so to get this as a semi-final game is truly a gift. I think the winner of this game is going to be the team that can produce more offense because both these are two of the best defensive teams you will see. I think that Kelly Bryant and the Clemson offense is a tad better and I have Clemson in a squeaker, 24-21.

Clemson – 24   Alabama – 21

Sit back and enjoy these two games because it is going to be hard to find two better matchups ever. I hope you all have a very happy and healthy New Year and here’s to another great year!
