Washington State quarterback Tyler Hilinski, 21, was found dead in his apartment last night, police say. Hilinski was found with an apparent self-inflicting gun shot wound to the head with a rifle and a suicide note next to him. The quarterback was found after not showing up to practice earlier in the day.
Hilinski was just coming off his sophomore season as the backup to senior Luke Falk. In 8 appearances this past season, he was able to throw for 1,176 yards and 7 touchdowns. However, he was able to play well enough, after an injury to Falk, in a 58-37 loss at Arizona in the final game of the regular before losing what nobody thought would be his final game in the Holiday Bowl against Michigan State. The 21-year old was in line to secure the starting job for next season. Sadly, Mike Leach and the Cougars will have to find someone else to fill that role. Our thoughts prayers here at Guys Being Dudes go out to his family and the school.
