Per Field Yates, The Eagles have decided that they are not picking up the option on S, Malcolm Jenkins for 2020 which in turn, will make him a free agent.

In a statement made by the team shortly after the news broke, the Birds stated that “Malcolm Jenkins has been an outstanding player for us and we are proud of everything he accomplished both on and off the field during his time in Philadelphia.”

During his 6 year tenor with the team, Jenkins acquired a total of 406 tackles, 11 INTs, 12 forced fumbles and 58 pass deflections. Jenkins also played in 100% of the teams defensive snaps for each of last two seasons.

Jalen Mills, who signed a one year contract with the Eagles earlier today, is expected to shift from his cornerback position to safety in attempts to fill the void that Jenkins will now leave behind.
