Episode 13 – Tik Tok
During tonight’s daily thought, we are going to be discussing the wildly popular social media app known as Tik Tok. Tik Tok, which was originally known as Musically, is a social platform used to create short dance, lip-sync, comedy and talent videos. These videos can range anywhere from 15 seconds, to one minute.
So why are we talking about Tik Tok tonight? Well for starters I find it extremely annoying as to how addicting the app is. I find myself going on the platform for what I believe to be is 10 minutes, only to find out that I have been watching videos for the past three hours. The short videos allow for consumers to stay attached at the hip while at the same time never losing focus.
Also, can we talk for a second about just how popular some of these Tik Tok stars are? Charli D’Amelio, who is a 16 year old from Connecticut, has acquired over 60 Million followers through the app. My cousin, who is just 4 years old, watches her videos daily and tries to mimic her dances as if she is Jennifer freaking Lopez. What a world we live in man.
At the end of the day, Tik Tok is not going anywhere. Myself, being a college student is going to continue to watch and share funny clips with my friends. My cousins, who are just kids will continue to make videos in attempts to be the next Charli D’Amelio. In my eyes, Tik Tok is currently the world most powerful social media tool and is only beginning to pick up steam.
